Walsh Engraving started with an empty slot in a high-school schedule and a teacher who saw what was possible. Today we run a 105-watt CO2 laser out of a Fort Dodge storefront, serving everyone from corporate buyers to the neighbor down the block.
Walsh Engraving started with an empty slot in a high-school schedule. Lucas Walsh needed classes to fill some open spots at Manson Northwest Webster, and a laser-manufacturing class caught his eye. His teacher, Brian Nelson, saw potential — and when it came time for the next trimester, he told Lucas to take the class back-to-back.
After graduating in 2020, Lucas bought his own engraving equipment in 2021 and started taking orders from a small shop at home — cutting boards, cake pans, one-off gifts for people who had no local option.
Word spread fast. In February 2023, Walsh Engraving opened its doors at 1603 3rd Ave S in Fort Dodge, filling a gap that had been sending customers to online shops for years.
Today, Walsh Engraving runs a 105-watt CO2 laser and handles everything from single custom pieces to bulk corporate orders of 100+ tumblers, cutting boards, or whatever a business needs.
